MUSICAL MASTERPIECES

Avalon Acoustics loudspeakers are legendary in audiophile circles. Having quietly built their reputation since their founding in the 1980s, Neil Patel and his team in Boulder, Colorado continue their ongoing research to redefine the state of the art in high-resolution three-dimensional soundstaging. After completing his ne plus ultra Tesseract and Saga flagship loudspeakers, Neil turned his attention to reinventing the modern Avalon speakers for the rest of us. This new Precision Monitor series is now available, and are more NYC-friendly than ever before!

What makes them so special? Besides their faceted modern aesthetic and beautiful craftsmanship using exquisite real-wood veneers, reviewers frequently point to the three hallmarks of an Avalon speaker as offering (1) natural tonality, (2) great sound staging, and (3) a very transparent sound. What is harder to put into words though is the utter transparency of the modern Avalon speakers: they simply let the music flow into your room in a way that very few speakers can manage. It is a “less is more” aesthetic. To hear the music in this way opens up a doorway on a full immersion in music, that feels very familiar to those who hear live music regularly.

We invite you to Innovative to experience the Precision Monitor 1 and its sibling the Precision Monitor 2.

Precision Monitors

The design goal of the Precision Monitor Line is simple: Transfer as much technology as possible from our award-winning Tesseract design into a series of practically sized reference monitors. Proprietary low noise circuitry and phase coherent network technologies will dictate each driver’s performance envelope to create an accurate 3-dimensional reproduction of the original recording. Transient speed and dynamics will be paramount, presenting macro and micro dynamic contrasts to focused images within the breadth and depth of the soundstage.

 PRECISION MONITOR 1

The PM1 is a high-efficiency floor-standing reference monitor, designed specifically for generating maximum dynamic contrast and effective sound pressure levels from a compact chassis. Ease of drivability through a non-reactive impedance load presents low powered tube or solid-state electronics with an ideal interface for generating maximum sound pressure levels per watt of power applied.

PM1 specifications:

  • Size: 37” (940mm) tall, 10” (250mm) wide, 13” (330mm) deep, 75# (34kg) weight

  • Drivers: 2-way floor-standing with one 1” (25mm) high-energy phase-aligned tweeter, & two 7” (180mm) Nomex-Kevlar composite cone woofers

  • Frequency response: 28Hz–25kHz

  • Sensitivity: 93dB (@1W/1m)

  • Impedance: 4 Ohm, nominal

  • Power handling: 15-200 watts

  • Finishes: standard Birdseye Maple, Polychrome; or premium Curly Maple, Quilted Cherry, Figured Walnut

PRECISION MONITOR 2

The PM2 is a full range reference monitor designed specifically for superlative tonal and spatial accuracy. Recovery of fine low-level detail, without exaggeration or aggressive high frequency etching, was the specific design goal. Accurate tracing of all waveform parameters within a dynamic energy field is the hallmark of Precision Monitor 2, an elegant and truthful high-resolution transducer for home or studio.

PM2 specifications:

  • Size: 44” (1120mm) tall, 10” (250mm) wide, 16” (410mm) deep, 86# (39kg) weight

  • Drivers: 3-way floor-standing with one 1” (25mm) concave carbon/glass tweeter, one 3.5” (90mm) concave ceramic dome midrange, & two 7.5” (190mm) Nomex-Kevlar composite cone woofers

  • Frequency response: 28Hz–25kHz

  • Sensitivity: 89dB (@1W/1m)

  • Impedance: 4 Ohm, nominal

  • Power handling: 25-400 watts

  • Finishes: standard Birdseye Maple, Polychrome; or premium Curly Maple, Quilted Cherry, Figured Walnut
